BaseArchive
What the local archive format used by LiquidoDocs Explorer is.
What BaseArchive is
BaseArchive is the first archive format supported by LiquidoDocs.
It is a local structure designed to store files, descriptions, revisions and metadata in a more orderly way than simple folders, without immediately requiring a server or a complex document management system.
What it is for
BaseArchive is used to collect and organize document content in an archive that can be browsed with LiquidoDocs Explorer.
- Stores files linked to codes or document items.
- Makes it possible to distinguish drafts, published revisions and content in preparation.
- Keeps descriptions, notes, tags, families and other associated information.
- Helps search and filter content without relying only on the file name.
It is not just a folder
A BaseArchive archive should not be managed manually like a normal file folder. Its internal structure is designed to maintain order, revisions and linked information.
The user works on the archive through LiquidoDocs Explorer, which reads and updates the structure in a controlled way.
Codes and document items
In BaseArchive, a code is a document item. It can represent a product, a component, a specific document or a general file container.
For example, you can use a single code to collect drawings, manuals and certificates related to the same item, or create more specific codes to separate different documents.
Tags and families allow these items to be classified freely. Each Vault can have different catalogs, created according to the needs of the user or organization.
Draft, pre and revisions
BaseArchive separates work in preparation from published revisions, so official content remains separate from changes in progress.
- pre: indicates a newly created code that does not yet have a published revision.
- draft: indicates a temporary workspace used to prepare a new revision.
- Published revision: indicates a document version made official within the archive.
Where it can be saved
A BaseArchive archive can be saved in a local folder or in a location visible from the computer, including network folders, company servers and NAS.
Without a dedicated server
BaseArchive is designed to work without a dedicated server. This makes it possible to start lightly, even in small contexts or with simple infrastructures.
For more complex scenarios, with many users or advanced approval flows, more evolved solutions may be introduced within the LiquidoDocs family.
Backup and archive responsibility
BaseArchive is local: the physical preservation of the archive depends on the location chosen by the user or organization.
It is therefore important to include the Vault folder in normal backup procedures, especially when the archive contains important documents.
A foundation for growth
BaseArchive is the first step in the LiquidoDocs world: a concrete, local and controllable solution. The project structure is designed to evolve over time with verification, export, recovery tools and more advanced archives.
